Unity in Community is the charitable arm of Atlantic Pacific Group. We support local and national based events each year, where the cause is close to our hearts.

Christine Nichols – Executive Chairwoman

Christine has been engaged in the shipping industry since 1975 and doing charitable work and volunteering since 1984. She is a Founder, Owner and Director of Atlantic Pacific Group, Founder and Executive Chairwomen of Unity In Community and Lady Chairwomen of The London Freight Club, the first women to hold this position in the clubs 70 year history.

Christine is also a Director and Trustee of the Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust and holds Fellowships from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and Royal Society of Arts, and is a Member of The Institute of Export.

Chrissy has a love of visual and performing arts which she supports by championing community events showcasing these art forms.

Tony Cottee – Patron

Former West Ham United legend – Tony Cottee – is a patron of the Unity In Community charitable efforts.  Tony says: “I love what the guys at Atlantic Pacific do, they make sure they give back and heavily involve themselves with at least one great cause every year. When they decided to formalise their charitable efforts under the ‘Unity In Community’ banner, I was delighted to get involved. I look forward to my patron role and helping to support them promote some great causes”.

Tony played 335 times for West Ham, during two spells, and scored 146 goals for the Hammers between 1982 and 1996. He was capped 7 times by England and also played in the top flight for Everton and Leicester City.

Sponsors & Logistics Partners for the Herd In The City Event – Summer 2023

Atlantic Pacific Group are the Logistics Partner and Sponsor of ‘Herd in the City’ for Havens Hospices in 2023. Up-to 50 large elephant sculptures displayed throughout the City of Southend, along with over 70 baby elephants created by schools and community groups.

This follows on from our involvement with Havens Hospices in their successful 2021 event ‘Hares About Town’ which raised over half a million pounds for the Hospice.

Billericay Town FC Women’s Football 

Through Atlantic Pacific Group, Unity and Community are delighted to have become partners with Billericay Town Women’s & Girl’s FC. They will be the match day programme sponsors for the 23/24 season.

Christine Nichols, Unity’s Executive Chairwoman, was honoured to be invited by the clubs Chairman Greg Lake to become a ‘Wave Maker’ for the club. The Wave Makers circle will provide support and mentoring to the clubs 300+ women and girls.

Southend’s wonderful new charitable project – Selfie On Sea – has opened at the Royals Shopping Centre. The project raised funds for ‘Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust’ and offers a fantastic opportunity to get some great selfies with friends and family.

Unity In Community Executive Chairwoman – Christine Nichols –  is a Trustee of Lady McAdden and one of the driving forces behind Selfie-on-Sea, providing logistical support and sponsorship via Atlantic Pacific. Christine has been a volunteer during the set up and build of the project, and will be helping to staff the store.

The Little Red Tuk-Tuk

Since we adopted and painted the little red tuk-tuk in 2021, it has become synonymous with our attendance at many fundraising events in and around Essex. It even has its own facebook page.

The London Freight Club (LFC)

The London Freight Club was formed in 1952/53 and is today the UK’s premier club for people in the transport and logistics sector. The club has been organising events with guest speakers for its members since its inception and the club has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds money for charities and good causes. After becoming the first female member of the club in 2013 Christine Nichols was elected Chairwomen of the London Freight Club, another first for a woman in 2023.
