Unity-In-Community ambassadors Tony Cottee and Chrissy Nichols visited Havens Hospices recently to get familiar with the first member of ‘The Herd’.

They took along ‘Little Red’, Atlantic Pacific’s Tuk-Tuk, to meet the first of the elephants that will be part of next year’s ‘Herd In The City’.

Following last year’s successful ‘Hares About Town’ event, a public art trail of over 40 elephants will be on display around Southend-on-Sea in 2023. The event, in which Atlantic Pacific Group will be logistics partners and sponsors, will also involve over 70 local schools in the area.

The Hares About Town project raised around £500K for Havens Hospices, and next year’s event will also be aimed at generating funds for this very worthy cause.

Havens Hospices is a cause that is very close to our hearts. They provide palliative nursing and supportive care to adults and children living with complex or incurable conditions.

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, their hospices remained open to care for patients at the end of their life and they supported the NHS by taking patients in from hospitals to free up beds.

Haven’s must raise over £81,000 each week to be there for everyone who needs them and the Herd In The City project is an important part of next year’s fund-raising.
